Our Story
From Pencils to Fountain Pens - Our Journey in Writing
When I was about seven or eight years old, pencils were my gateway to writing. Simple, erasable—they were the perfect fit for a child who could always hit “reset” whenever needed. But everything changed when I reached third grade. My teacher made an announcement: from now on, we could use fountain pens.
I’ll never forget the excitement when I got my first fountain pen. To a kid, a fountain pen was a tool of grown-ups. And now, here I was, using one myself—it felt like a rite of passage, a sign that I was finally “grown up.” I used it for everything: notes, homework, exams. Sure, those cheap pens often broke, but they were by my side through it all.
After university, things changed. With the rise of email and instant messaging, writing felt less necessary. Ballpoint and gel pens became the office staples, and the buzz around “paperless offices” made me think I’d never need a fountain pen again.
That was, until I met Jay. He’s a few years older than me, and the year I was born, he had already left school and started as an apprentice in a fountain pen factory. Now, Jay has his own workshop and an amazing talent for pen-making. He encouraged me to pick up the fountain pen again, and I’m so glad he did. The sound of the nib gliding across the paper, the ink flowing smoothly—it was both nostalgic and fresh. I instantly fell in love with the experience of writing with a fountain pen.
Jay told me that he had been working for big fountain pen brands, but his dream was to create his own. So, we decided to team up. I handled the website and social media, while Jay focused on production. We don’t have a huge range of pens, but what we do have is top-quality—on par with the big-name brands. In fact, many of those big pens are made in Jay’s workshop. They just don’t carry his name.
We’ve been lucky enough to find a small but loyal group of fountain pen lovers who appreciate our work. Customers praise our pens for being sturdy, affordable, and smooth to write with. Many have made repeat purchases.
We’ll keep running our website and social media to share our pens with the world. We’re not trying to change the world; we’re doing this because we love it. And if you love our pens too? That’s the greatest joy we could ask for.
